A local South Texas city, the City of Rio Grande City, Texas, is one step closer to bridging the digital divide.
Beginning this week, wireless access points from Ruckus Wireless are being placed throughout the downtown area. The project started last year at a workshop for Economic Development and is now making its way to the streets. FOX 2 News in the Rio Grande Valley ran this piece on the project this past February: Rio Grande City to Bring Free Wifi to Residents
“We’re absolutely proud to be involved in this project from start to finish” said Drew Lentz of Frontera Consulting. “Being able to provide such great services in this exciting city is a wonderful thing for everyone in the community. Without the persistence of the the Mayor, the City Manager, and the Rio Grande City Economic Development Corporation, this wouldn’t be possible; kudos to them for making this happen!”, he continued.
There is much more from this project to come, please keep checking back for details!
